India’s Future Group has acquired Express Retail Services, which operates Delhi’s convenience store chain Big Apple.
The INR613.5m (US$11.3m) acquisition sees Future Group take on 65 Big Apple food and grocery stores in and around Delhi.
In the filing, the company said: “On completion of the acquisition of Express Retail Services, it will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Future Ventures India and the operational performance of the business will form part of the consolidated financials of Future Ventures India.”
This month, Future Group announced a corporate reorganisation of its retail businesses. The company decided to merge its Future Value Retail arm, which includes the Big Bazaar and Food Bazaar chains, with smaller unit Pantaloon.
