The 15bn rupee (US$366m) investment comes as part of plans to address concerns about processing and the supply chain in the food retail industry in the country.

Talking to the newswire service Thomson Financial News at the Indian Retail Forum, Subodh Kant, India’s minister of state for the food and processing industry, said that the parks will be established in public-private partnership.

A committee has been set up to identify land for the launch of five parks that will be built initially.
