Indian food company Keventer Group has teamed up with local conglomerate ITC to run a noodle manufacturing plant in Kolkata.
The INR500m (US$9.1m) factory is ITC’s second noodle manufacturing plant and has a production capacity of 50 tonnes of instant noodles per day.
Saurav Jajodia, Keventer’s assistant vice president for operations, told just-food the alliance was a good fit.
“This plant will synergise a lot of back-end operations. Keventer Group has the domain knowledge to handle FMCG products and ITC is a good company that is constantly adding value to its products.”
Keventer will run day-to-day operations under contract, making Sunfeast Yippee Noodles for ITC.
Market analysis from India’s Future Group suggest the country’s instant noodle market, which is dominated by Nestlé’s Maggi noodles brand, will grow from INR13bn at present to INR30-35bn by 2015.
