According to local reports, the sale is expected to be completed within the next three months. At this time, it is believed all 41 Foodland Fresh outlets in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai will be converted to Bharti’s Easy Day banner.

However, a spokesperson for RKHS categorically denied the rumour, stating that it was “hearsay”.

“We do not have plans to sell our retail business to Bharti,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food.

Bharti has been expanding aggressively in the Indian retail sector through its subsidiary Bharti Retail. The group aims to have 10m square feet of retail space by 2012.
