Sabar plans to invest US$35m in building the plant, which will have a production capacity of 300,000 liters per day.

Sabar’s current capacity stands at 1m litres a day but booming demand for dairy products in India has led the company to procure more milk than it can process.

At present, the company sells its excess milk to the National Dairy Development Board’s (NDDB) Mother Dairy plant in Gandhinagar.

Sabar managing director B. M. Patel said: “Demand for dairy products, especially milk powder is increasing now as spending power in higher, and there is also a demand for exports.”
