Spar International, the global symbol retailer, is to officially open its first hypermarket in northern India tomorrow (30 January).

The retailer confirmed to just-food today that the store will open in Delhi, at Pacific Mall, Tagore Gardens. The store will be spread over an area of 74,000 sq ft.

Spar currently has stores located in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mangalore. A spokesperson for the retailer told just-food that the Delhi store is the first for Spar in the north of India and is part of its plans to open 30 hypermarkets in the country by 2013.

The retailer formed its current venture in India around four years ago.
