Patanjali, which markets products including bakery lines, noodles and juices, entered the dairy market in 2014 with the launch of ghee. It now also markets whole milk powder.

The company has a single manufacturing plant at its base in Haridwar in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. However, Patanjali plans to open a new dairy factory in Maharashtra, in the west of the country, by December to process and package the new liquid milk product.

Speaking to just-food, an official at Patanjali said there is a huge opportunity for the company in India’s dairy market, with rising demand being supported by India’s consumers becoming more health-conscious.

Patanjali, a company set up in 2006, also sells a range of personal care products, including in cosmetics and dental care.
