Australian poultry firm Inghams Group has appointed Gary Mallett as its finance chief to replace Ian Brannan, who tendered his six-month resignation notice in January.

It is the latest senior level appointment at the Sydney-listed company, which recently brought in new chief executive Jim Leighton after his predecessor Mick McMahon quit last August. In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange today (19 June), Inghams also announced new incumbents to fill the roles of head of operations, chief customer officer (CCO) and feed business director.

New CFO Mallett will take up the position in October. He has 30 years experience in senior finance roles with Australia-listed companies such as Origin Energy and Brambles, and is joining Inghams from Senex Energy.

CEO Leighton commented: “Gary’s significant experience will be invaluable as we move to implement the next phase of our growth strategy. As previously announced, current CFO Ian Brannan leaves Ingham’s on 30 June with the best wishes of the board and management. We thank Ian for his great service over the last four years playing a major role in the significant changes and successful performance of the business during that time”.

Meanwhile, Tim Singleton joins the New South Wales-based business as chief operations officer, while Chris Croese has been appointed COO. Anne-Marie Mooney becomes feed business director.

Despite the management changes, Ingham’s financial performance is holding up, with progress being made under its Project Accelerate initiative launched in 2016 to improve efficiencies. Profit after tax increased more than 28% in the first half of the current fiscal year to AUD84.4m (US$58m).
