Hemption, who jointed the company as an apprentice engineer at 16, has served as MD since 1987.


George Weston, chief executive of parent company Associated British Foods, said: “He has been a great leader in the industry for many years and we wish him many happy years in his retirement.”


Hempton’s replacement is expected to be announced later this month.
