Fyffes said it – and Weichert, its European joint venture – had received “statements of objections” from the Commission over the supply of bananas to nine countries in northern Europe.
The company said the charges relate to inspections of Fyffes and Weichert premises carried out by the Commission two years ago.
Fyffes said it would examine the Commission’s “preliminary findings” and respond in “due course”.
