The deal was signed at the Irish Embassy in Paris in the presence of Irish minister for agriculture and food, Mary Coughlan. Liffey Meats will supply Intermarché with a range of Irish steer beef products.

The contract follows extensive test marketing undertaken by the Irish food board Bord Bia over the last year and significant investment by Liffey Meats in new processing and packaging capability, RTE said.

This is the first time that an identified Irish beef range, produced entirely in Ireland, is available to all outlets of a French retailer.
