Closure orders were served by environmental health officers in the Dublin Mid Leinster Region on Mum Catering Ltd and Linro Catering Ltd, both of the Earl of Kildare Hotel, 47-49 Kildare Street, Dublin 2., while EHOs in the Dublin North Eastern Region served a closure order on Tian Tian Fish Market, Rear of No. 10 Moore Street, Dublin 1. A further closure order was served by EHOs in the Western Region on Lams Chinese Take Away, 42 Bride Street, Loughrea, Galway and in the Southern Region on Goslins Public House, Ballycanew, Gorey, Co. Wexford. Also, EHOs in the HSE Southern Region served a closure order on Shanghai Chinese Restaurant, 46 North Street, Skibbereen, Cork.

Dr John O’Brien, chief executive, FSAI expressed his disappointment. “To date, 22 Closure Orders have been served on food businesses and hopefully over the next four months that figure will remain below last year’s total of 42 closure orders served,” he said. “Closure orders are served when there are serious legal infringements and standards have fallen so low that the public’s health has been put at risk. All food businesses must adhere to best food safety and hygiene practices in their premises. Consumers have to be confident that the food they purchase is safe to eat. Food businesses that neglect food safety and put their customers’ health at risk will not be tolerated and risk being closed down until such a time as they have implemented the correct food safety procedures.”
