Irish fruit importer Fyffes has acquired the remaining 50% of Danish produce company Lembcke that it did not already own for a total of EUR16.8m (US$21.56m).

Fyffes first acquired a 50% stake in the Danish company in 1993.
 
In 2005, Lembcke recorded net profit before tax of EUR5.8m.


Fyffes also revealed that it had bought 100% of Interbanan and Valby Bananimport for a total of EUR6m.


“We are very pleased to have acquired the remaining 50% of Lembcke, having made our initial investment in 1993,” Fyffes chairman Carl McCann commented. “We look forward to the continuing of our long relationship with the Lembcke family and all the people who operate this excellent cost efficient business,” he concluded.
