Food group Glanbia has today (Monday) announced the appointment of Colin Gordon as chief executive officer of its Irish consumer foods business, effective from 1 March 2006.

In this role Gordon will be responsible for managing one of the group’s core areas of operation and for developing Glanbia’s position as the leading supplier of branded and value-added liquid milk, fresh dairy produce, cheeses, soups and spreads in the Irish retail market, the company said. Included in the Glanbia Irish brand portfolio is Avonmore (the number one brand in the Irish milk market), Yoplait, Kilmeaden and Premier. He succeeds the late Pat Brophy.


Gordon joins Glanbia from C&C Group Plc, the drinks and snack food company, where he has been managing director of C&C (Ireland) Ltd since 1998.
