Keane, who was appointed to Glanbia’s board in 2006, is a chairman of Donaghmore Famine Work House and the Agricultural Museum Co-operative Society and farms at Errill, Portlaoise, in County Laois.

Glanbia also announced three new non-executive directors, Michael Keane, John Murphy and Brendan Hayes.

Meanwhile, directors Christopher Hill and Nicholas Dunphy have retired from their roles.

In May, the co-op exerted its influence over Glanbia’s strategy by voting down plans to sell the company’s Irish dairy business.
