Irish food group Greencore has appointed Diane Walker as chief executive of its UK convenience foods business with immediate effect.

Walker joined Greencore in 2004 as managing director of the company’s chilled sauce and soups category. She was then appointed managing director of Food to Go, the largest convenience food category within Greencore in 2006.

“I am absolutely delighted that Di will be the new chief executive of Convenience Foods UK” said Greencore chief executive Patrick Coveney. “Di is an outstanding leader in our business with deep industry knowledge, a hard performance edge and excellent people skills who will bring passion and tremendous energy to the new role”.

Prior to joining Greencore, Walker was divisional managing director of Hibernian Foods and convenience food sales and marketing director of Hazlewood Foods.

A spokesperson for Greencore told just-food that the roles were new and that the company had “added a new layer” into the organisation.
