Irish food giant Kerry Group has signed a contract to sell its Limerick-based liquid milk operations to local peer Glanbia.

The transaction will include its Dawn Milk and Golden Vale brands in the area.

A spokesperson for Kerry told just-food today (17 January) that the industry has been “quite competitive in recent years” and the move is part of the company’s plans to scale back its liquid milk business.

He added pointed to Kerry’s successful disposals of its Cork and Galway liquid milk operations in recent years.

The spokesperson described the deal with Glanbia as “small” and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
