Nine months after launching a phased implementation of Movex Food and Beverage on the IBM iSeries platform, Dawn Meats’ Movex solution – including procurement, accounts payable and sales order processing components – has gone live at two of the meat processor’s Irish sites: Grannagh and Carrolls Cross.

Following the success of this initial phase, integration to shop-floor data capture will be implemented within the next month. The phased rollout of the solution at Dawn Meats’ other Irish sites will also begin in earnest, with plans to have another five sites implemented by June 2003 before embarking on the rollout at the company’s UK sites.
The Dawn Group, established in 1980 in Waterford, Republic of Ireland, forms part of the Queally Group, Ireland’s largest privately owned agribusiness. The Dawn Group slaughters 500,000 cattle and 1,500,000 lambs every year from which it produces 200,000 metric tons of added-value meat products, including 55,000 metric tons of consumer packs that are delivered daily to Europe’s leading retail outlets.
Dawn’s distribution and sales operations are located in France, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK. Dawn, which employs 3,700 people, supplies fresh vacuum-packed and frozen meat products to over 40 countries worldwide.
