The Irish government is reportedly preparing legislation that would govern the interaction between supermarkets and their grocery suppliers. 

According to the Irish Times, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation confirmed that new grocery legislation is about to be enacted. just-food was unable to reach representatives at the DJEI at time of press. 

A consultation on rules to protect suppliers was launched over a year ago. According to the Irish Times, which cited an industry source, the new legislation will not materially alter draft proposals. 

The legislation aims to tackle concerns over retailer bullying and misconduct in the supply chain.
