Convenience food group Greencore has snapped up two UK business – including a mineral water facility owned by Danone – for a combined GBP15m (US$30.6m).


Greencore said this morning (13 December) it had acquired specialist foodservice supplier The Ministry of Cake and the Danone site in the Brecon Beacons.


Chief executive designate Patrick Coveney said: “These are strategic acquisitions which will assist in the diversification of our business.”


Coveney has been earmarked for the top job at Greencore after his predecessor David Dilger decided to leave the company. Dilger’s departure, which was announced on Tuesday (11 December), is slated for the end of next March.
