Ahead of its AGM, Glanbia said the US operations had boosted performance from its ingredients and nutritionals business.
Glanbia was more subdued about its consumer foods business in Ireland, which it said was expected to post a “satisfactory” first-half performance.
Nevertheless, group MD John Moloney said margins from the consumer foods business had recovered. He added: “For the full year, we expect to continue to build on our excellent 2007 performance.”
Glanbia saw profits jump 35% during 2007 thanks in part to its US ingredients division.
