Israeli supermarket chain Blue Square-Israel has announced that its board of directors has appointed Gil Unger as the company’s new chief executive officer and president.

Blue Square announced in February that its CEO Yoram Dar had resigned and that it was recommending Unger as a successor. Unger previously held the position of CEO of Ikea Israel.


The company has also announced the appointment of Sandrine Montsma as Blue Square’s new vice president and marketing officer. Montsma was previously serving as vice president of marketing, strategy and new business of Elite Industries.
