Blue Square said today (17 December) that Zeev Kalimi had asked to step down but declined to reveal the reasons for the CEO’s request.

“We found Mr. Kalimi to be truthful and honest while presenting to us his request, being unable to act as the company’s CEO at this point in time,” said Blue Square chairman David Wiessman.

Kalimi joined Blue Square from Israeli dairy group Milko Industries in October.

Added selling space helped Blue Square to increase its third-quarter revenues by 6.6%. Revenues reached NIS1.8bn (US448.8m) compared with NIS1.7bn in the third quarter of 2006.
