G. Willi-Food International, one of Israel’s largest food importers, said today (11 December) that a purported class action lawsuit had been filed against the company. The complaint alleges that the company misled its customers by reducing the content in its tuna containers, and then charging its customers the same price as before.

The complaint, if recognised as a class action, alleges damages of approximately NIS23.5m (US$5.6m) including NIS11.75m for return of the overcharge and NIS11.75m for additional compensation.
“The company believes that the complaint is without merit and intends to vigorously defend against the litigation,” a statement said.
