The company today (28 May) booked operating income of NIS14.8m (US$4.5m) for the three months to 31 March, up 46% on the year. Turnover climbed 49% to NIS106.4m.

Willi-Food said the acquisition of Shamir Salads in January and the purchase of a Danish dairy distributor in February had bolstered the numbers.

Willi-Food had seen costs hit annual earnings last year but president and COO Zwi Williger said the numbers showed the business was “beginning to regain momentum”.

Williger added: “We are very pleased with the performance of the new acquisitions which are the obvious drivers of our growth in the quarter. The companies fit strategically with our goal to provide our customers a wide assortment of innovative kosher products that tap into popular consumer trends and demand in kosher and healthy eating.”
