Israel’s Kinneret Farm has signed deals totaling NIS2.5m (US$543,000) to export its new sauces and preserves to the US.  Kinneret Farm develops, produces and markets food products based on dates.

Last year, the company, owned by Kibbutz Kinneret near the Sea of Galilee, decided to expand its business by developing new date-based product lines, as reported by Globes. The company has developed six sauces based on date honey, and six date-based varieties of confiture.

The company displayed its new line of products at the Kosherfest 2005 exhibition in New York last month, in which Arab food manufacturers in Israel also took part.

Following its display at the exhibition, Kinneret Farm received orders from leading US retail chains, including Alberston’s, which has 220 outlets, and Whole Food Market, which specialises in marketing natural food products.

The report adds that Kinneret Farm will initially market its new products in the US in specially designed packages under the Jordan Valley brand name.
