Italian cheese maker Auricchio Group has acquired 3B Latte, a producer of goat, buffalo and cow’s milk cheeses.

With origins dating back 70 years, 3B Latte is a EUR35m (US$36.6m) turnover business based in Brignano Gera d’Adda in the Italian province of Bergamo. It supplies cheeses typical of the Lombardy region, such as buffalo-based camembert. Brands include Vaccino, Di Capra and Senza Lattosio.

Owners Florindo and Marco Bertoni, and Abramo Bernacchi, will remain with the business, which generates 20% of its turnover overseas.

Just Food has contacted the company to confirm the overseas markets and the customers it serves. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CEO Florindo Bertoni said: “This project will allow us to accelerate our growth while maintaining great focus and autonomy in management. We have chosen to enter into a partnership with the Auricchio Group because it is complementarity to our products, vision of future growth and shared entrepreneurial values.”

Auricchio, based in Cremona, Lombardy, is a EUR320m turnover business, 40% of which comes from exports. The company produces traditional Italian cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Gorgonzola. Its brands include its namesake line, Riserva Esclusiva Auricchio, Locatelli Giovanni Colombo and Caseificio Villa.

Auricchio operates eight dairies and exports to 60 countries in North and South America, Australia, Europe and the United Arab Emirates. It will seek to expand 3B Latte’s international presence, particularly in Europe.

Its president Antonio Auricchio said: “This is a moment special for all of us. There is perfect complementarity between us and 3B Latte.”
