The wheat will go into pasta that is due to hit the shelves late summer. Gianluca Faraone, the president of the Libera Terra, said: “We hope to have our ‘anti-Mafia pasta’ on the shelves in August.”
The land was seized form Toto Riina, a key Mafia figure who is now in jail. Some 20 years ago, Italy implemented laws permitting the confiscation of Mafia’s financial assets and property. Libera Terra successfully asked the government for permission to use the assists constructively, reports the Independent newspaper.
