Parmalat has announced the appointment of Craig Garvin to lead its business in Australia.

The Italian dairy giant unveiled Garvin’s appointment yesterday (2 December) and said he would start in the role on 11 January.


In a short statement, Parmalat said only that “within the Australian marketplace, Mr Garvin has a strong FMCG background in well- known branded companies and hospitality industry”.


Officials at Parmalat could not be reached for immediate comment.


In July, Parmalat said, on a constant-currency basis, its half-year sales in Australia had risen by 1.9%, while profits on an EBITDA level jumped 22.6%.

The company said profits rose due to a streamlined product portfolio, savings in fixed costs but also a favourable comparison to the first half of 2008, when Parmalat’s business in Australia suffered from high raw milk costs.
