“The head of a multinational can’t be allowed to defame Italian institutions with impunity,” Storace said in a statement.

On Thursday Brabeck sent a letter to the minister to apologize for mistakenly saying that contacts between Italian officials and Nestlé on the issue had taken place in July or August, rather than in September.

Storace said on Friday that he would hand a copy of the letter to prosecutors.
