Japanese retailer Aeon has unveiled plans to establish a holding company.

The new holding company will assume management of all the companies within the Aeon group. This includes Aeon itself plus 158 affiliated companies, 28 of which are listed on the stock exchange.
As well as retail, the companies under the Aeon umbrella operate in the tourism, financial, information services and shopping mall development sectors.
The new entity will be established by the end of next year, the Mainichi Shimbun reported. The group has experienced rapid growth in recent years.
