Private equity group Sun Capital Partners has acquired the assets of KK Tarami, a leading Japanese producer of fruit-flavoured gelatine cups.

Tarami produces fruit jelly in eight and five ounce cups under well-known brands, such as Kudamonoyasan, Kajitsu-no-jikan and Dissari.


Commenting on the deal, Shigeru Utsugi, MD Sun Capital Partners Japan, said: “Tarami holds the leading market position in the Japanese fruit jelly cup sector. Our affiliate, Sun Capital Partners, is delighted to support Tarami’s management team and dedicated employees in building on their efforts in strengthening the company’s value proposition in its niche industry segment.”


Youichi Ogura, Tarami CEO, added: “We are pleased to form a partnership with an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners which will allow Tarami to focus on operational improvements and strategic growth as we pursue new products and improved levels of product quality and customer service.”
