Japanese chocolate maker Lotte Co has announced that it will boost its production capacity through the construction of a new chocolate manufacturing facility.

The new facility, to be located in Saitama, is expected to be operational by the summer of 2010.


Lotte is investing JPY10bn (US$102.6m) in the construction of the new facility, which will have floor space of 33,000 square metres and produce around JPY10bn-worth of chocolate annually.


When it comes on line, Lotte said it would boost production capacity by 20%.
