A new restaurant has opened in Japan with a view to introducing Japanese eaters to the virtues of mayonnaise.

The Mayonnaise Kitchen offers a range of dishes that swap traditional Japanese flavourings such as soy sauce for mayonnaise. Restaurant goers can opt for mayonnaise with celery, Chinese noodles, or even a mayonnaise fondue. For the more adventurous, dinner can be washed down with a mayonnaise cocktail.

Restaurant spokesman Koji Nakamura told Channelnewsasia: “Mayonnaise cuisine is popular because there are so many taste combinations which have not been discovered yet and we have a lot of room to be creative and there are a lot of surprises.”
