Tyrrells, the UK crisp manufacturer, has secured another overseas listing with a deal to sell products at 7-11 stores in Japan.

The company said it had agreed a deal to supply 5,000 stores in the country. “Japan is a strong snack market and this is one of our biggest export deals in terms of amount of stores,” Tyrrells chief executive David Milner said.

Tyrrells, reportedly put up for sale by private-equity owners Langholm Capital, generates a quarter of its sales outside the UK. Recent deals include a listing with US retailer Publix.

Japan is Tyrrells’ latest Asian market after deals in China and India. “Developing our presence in Japan is a big step for us, helping build our brand in the east,” Milner said. “The appetite for snack products is ever-growing, especially in the east, and building on our success already seen in China and India; we hope this is the beginning of another positive international partnership.”
