Japanese retailer Seiyu, an affiliate of US retail titan Wal-Mart, is to open its first one-storey large supermarket in April as part of a move to remodel its operations in the style of Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart is to provide Seiyu with knowledge and information regarding the operation of such stores, reported Dow Jones International News.
The new supermarket is to be built in the Shizuoka area, southwest of Tokyo, and will offer food, clothing and home supplies at discount prices, a Seiyu spokesman said.
