Country Archer has received US$12m in funding from long-time investor Monogram Capital Partners to support the US-based jerky and meat snacks maker’s move to a new production facility.

The 72,000 square-foot site is situated down the road from the company’s existing site and is set to open in the city of San Bernardino, California, this spring, doubling Country Archer’s manufacturing capacity amid “rapidly-growing demand”, according to a statement.

Country Archer’s jerky and meats sticks are made from grass-fed beef and antibiotic-free turkey and pork, and are also free of nitrites, MSG, gluten, antibiotics and added hormones. Its products are stocked at retailers including Walmart, Whole Foods Market and Kroger. The company added Canada to its domestic market in 2018.

“As we continue to grow at such a rapid pace, one of the most important things to us is that we retain what makes our brand so special – we’re a heritage company that is still making a craft product the exact same way that the artisan butcher who taught me did,” said Eugene Kang, co-founder and chief executive. “It’s critical to me that we manage every step of our unique process, from ingredient selection, to butchery, marinating, slow cooking and packaging, and owning our own facilities enables us to do that.

It is the latest round of funding from Los Angeles-based Monogram into the jerky maker following an investment from the private-equity firm last year, and $10m in 2018, which was its third investment in the business. Monogram is focused on emerging consumer retail brands and has $200m under management.

Kang added: “Monogram has been an incredible partner from early on and shares the same values and vision in terms of sustainability, quality, and scaling in a smart way.”

Jared Stein, co-founder and a partner at Monogram, said: “It’s rare to see a company experience such accelerated growth in a short amount of time and it’s been incredible to join Country Archer on this ride. With their commitment to manufacturing in-house and maintaining authenticity in their products, we are confident that Country Archer will prove to be an even bigger force in the meat snack space.”
