KAZAKHSTAN: Grain harvest beats estimates, but still less than last year
Despite falling short of last year's total grain harvest, 14.2m tons from 11.3m ha, deputy agricultural minister Askar Myrzakhmetov has revealed that Kazakhstan has exceeded 2000 forecasts by threshing 13.27m tons, from 12.3m ha. The majority of this total, 9.289m tons, was harvested throughout the regions in Northern Akmola and Kazakhstan and Kustanai, while the Almaty, eastern and southern Kazakhstan regions have yet to reap their technical-use crops.
