The company said the new products are "wholesome" and "satisfying" snacks that are individually wrapped and portion controlled.

The Moroccan spice chickpeas and Thai fava beans are gluten-free, nut-free snacks with no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. Both achieve five stars under the Australian Health Star Rating nutritional labels programme.

The two other lines – the dark chocolate berry blend mini bites and the sultanas, dates, almonds and peanuts mini bites contain whole grains and have no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. They are rated four health stars.

"Snacking can be a great way to manage hunger and maintain energy levels throughout the day, but it’s important to pay attention to the type of snacks you choose," said dietitian Caitlin Reid. "With potato chips being Australia’s number one snack choice, the Be Natural Thai Sweet Chilli Fava Beans and Moroccan Spice Chickpeas are healthier alternatives that are lower in kilojoules and fat, yet still taste delicious and are also a source of fibre."
