Kellogg has sold US meat-free brand Loma Linda to local food group Atlantic Natural Foods.

The deal, struck for an undisclosed sum, will also see ANF licence Kellogg’s Worthington Foods meat-free brand and “transition” those products to the Loma Linda range. ANF has produced the two brands under licence since 2008.

Wendy Davidson, president of Kellogg’s US speciality channels division, said: “This transaction allows us to increase our focus on our core Kellogg specialty channels business.”

Kelly Krause, CEO of ANF, said: “Transferring the business allows ANF to increase focus on development of shelf-stable alternative meat analogue products that provide value to consumers. We believe that the demand for healthy alternative protein products will grow as more consumers incorporate non-meat choices as part of a healthy diet.”

The two companies announced a second transaction, with ANF acquiring Kellogg’s caffeine-free beverage brand Kaffree Roma.
