King’s Hawaiian, a US bakery group, is investing $54m to expand its plant in Oakwood, Georgia.
The investment details were presented last week in a statement from Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. A new production line will be added to the 150,000-square-foot facility in Oakwood South Industrial Park in a project that will create 135 jobs.
Mark Taira, the CEO of the family-owned King’s Hawaiian business, said: “This expansion represents a major milestone in our journey, and we are thrilled to continue growing our ohana in Hall County. For 15 years, Georgia has been an essential part of our success.”
The new line is expected to start operations in the second quarter of 2026, producing more flavours of King’s Hawaiian Pretzel Bites.
King’s Hawaiian, founded in 1950 by the Taira family in Hilo, Hawaii, is part of Irresistible Foods Group’s (IFG) portfolio, which also includes Grillo’s Pickles.
Since establishing its presence in Georgia in 2010, The Hawaiian Sweet Rolls manufacturer has grown to support more than 800 jobs in the state, according to the government statement.
