The Kuwaiti government is engaged in talks with a number of Asian countries as it looks to secure food supplies and increase investment in overseas agriculture.

According to a report from Kuna, the state news agency, prime minister Shiekh Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah has entered into trade negotiations with eight Asian countries to secure the nation’s food supply.

Kuwait is also planning to send a delegation to visit three of these countries with an eye to increasing investment, the agency said.

“A Kuwaiti delegation will be visiting these three countries as of the 19th of this month to get better acquainted with their laws and regulations, and to explore opportunities for real estate, industrial and agricultural investments,” Kuna reported.
