
Agri-food group Lantmännen has acquired Australia’s Bakery Du Jour for an undisclosed sum.
The transaction for the pastry manufacturer in Melbourne was conducted through the group’s international bakery division, Lantmännen Unibake based in Copenhagen, Denmark, according to a statement today (7 November).
Family-owned Bakery Du Jour was founded more than 20 years ago and supplies major Australian retailers and foodservice channels. The company employs about 90 people.
Du Jour’s owner Fernando Gaspar said: “In order to grow Bakery Du Jour further and realise its full potential, we have been looking for a strong business partner with the necessary skills, experience and industry expertise. With Lantmännen Unibake we have found that.”
Lantmännen Unibake, which supplies fresh and frozen bakery products to retailers and foodservice customers, said it has been exporting to Australia since 2006. The company’s brands include Hatting, Schulstad, Schulstad Bakery Solutions, Schulstad Royal Danish Pastry and Bonjour made across its 35 sites around the world.
The deal for Du Jour is subject to regulatory approvals.
