France-based restaurant business Groupe Le Duff plans to invest EUR250m (US$277.3m) in a new production plant in Brittany for its Bridor bakery unit. 

The new facility will be located in the town of Liffré, nine miles north of an existing site in Servon-sur-Vilaine. The investment will be spread over five years from 2020 and is expected to create 500 jobs.

Philippe Morin, Bridor’s CEO, said: “We are accelerating our development in order to maintain our rhythm of doubling our turnover every five years. The new Brittany plant is a further major step in consolidating our leadership position – in the bakery and pastry products sector – and in reaching a turnover of EUR1.5bn in 2025.”

Earlier this month, Bridor revealed another investment project in North America, with plans to up its pastry production capacity by more than two-thirds “as of next year”. The new project was under a EUR400m roadmap revealed in 2016 for operations in Canada, the US and France as the company seeks to increase sales to EUR1bn by next year. 

Bridor’s turnover stands at EUR800m, 70% of which is generated from exports to more than 100 countries.
