Mexico’s federal antitrust agency has closed its investigation into the purchasing practices of Wal-Mart de Mexico, on the condition that the retailer subscribes to a code of conduct relating to its dealings with suppliers.

The Federal Competition Commission (CFC) began the investigation last year to look into whether Wal-Mart de Mexico, or Walmex, was using its dominant market position to enforce lower prices from suppliers.

CFC spokesman Manuel Sandoval said although the agency found some evidence, it was not enough to prove that the Mexican unit of US retail giant Wal-Mart was flouting competition laws, reported the Associated Press.
