Mexican corn flour and tortilla maker Gruma has said it expects to achieve sales of US$2bn this year, compared to $1.85bn in 2002.

Juan Antonio Quiroga, Gruma’s corporate director, told Reuters that the group’s full-year operating profit is expected to be around 1.7bn pesos (US$154.8m), compared to 1.49bn pesos in 2002.
“The most important driver we have had in 2003 is very important growth in our US division, both in the business of corn flour and tortillas,” Quiroga said.
