
Mexico has reportedly suspended imports of live birds and eggs from Iowa, US, on bird flu concerns.
Iowa found a strain of bird flu in hens at an egg-laying facility on Monday (20 April), which, according to Reuters is "the worst case so far in a national outbreak" and prompted Wisconsin to declare a state of emergency.

The newswire said the country's agriculture ministry and animal health body SENASICA had "tightened controls and monitoring of migratory wild birds, and it said they were in constant contact with bird farms in Mexico to detect any suspicious cases domestically".
Earlier this year, Hong Kong and China blocked some US poultry imports as a result of the avian influenza outbreak.
