Mexican retail giant Wal-Mart de Mexico (Walmex) has said its December same-store sales edged up 0.1% compared with the year-ago period.

The retailer, which is majority owned by US retail titan Wal-Mart, posted December sales of 16.25bn pesos (US$1.50bn), a rise of 6.7% from the year-ago period after adjustment for inflation, reported Reuters.
For the full year 2003, same-store sales rose 3.5% compared to 2002, Walmex said. Total 2003 sales reached 120.28bn pesos, a rise of 9.3% compared to the previous year.
