Mondelez International is launching a Cadbury biscuit line in the UK – Cadbury Roundie.

The US snacks giant said the new Cadbury Roundie wafer biscuits will be on sale from early this month in multipacks of five including milk chocolate, dark chocolate and caramel wafer variants. The milk chocolate variant is also available in a single format.

The launch follows last year’s deal in which Mondelez bought the licence to manufacture, market and sell Cadbury-branded biscuits from Burton’s Biscuit Co.

Chiara Missio, the marketing manager for Cadbury biscuits at Mondelez’s UK business, said the country “is a nation of biscuit lovers”, with Euromonitor data indicating Britain is “the third biggest consumer of biscuits in the world and there’s an appetite for new varieties”.

Missio said: “It’s already enjoyed by Cadbury consumers in Australia and our preview testing has indicated that this launch will attract new shoppers who are looking for a tasty treat.”

The Cadbury Roundie line will be on sale in multipacks for an RRP of GBP1.99 (US$2.46) and GBP0.65 for single formats, which will be available for an initial GBP0.50 PMP.
