Mondelez International has added a "premium" line to its Philadelphia cream cheese range in Spain.

Philadelphia Mousse has a "light mousse texture" and has been designed to be eaten on its own or with accompaniments like breadsticks.

In comparison, other Philadelphia products are designed to be spread on food like toast or canapés.

Like Mondelez's Philadelphia Flavours range, Philadelphia Mousse targets the "same moment of consumption [of] informal dinners but different consumers", Mondelez's Spanish arm told just-food.

"Philadelphia ended up 2014 leading the savoury cream cheese market within the mainstream segment in tubs with its range of flavours. However, we identified a great opportunity for 2015 in the premium segment," the company said.
